What: Step by Step Guide of Watercolor Terminology, Techniques and Tools

When: Saturday, May 4th– (Live Lesson, followed by Replay/Download)

Time: 10-1pm PST

Join me for a comprehensive beginners guide to watercolor, where we learn about the terminology, techniques and tools of the medium! We practice our exercises on a total of four sheets of 9” x 12” watercolor paper. These will serve as great guides and reminders of the new techniques and studies you make, and you can refer back to them when needed. I’m going to approach this course like you’ve never watercolored in your life. However, as a person who has played a bit but would like to know more or even someone who simply likes pretty art supplies and resources, you will walk away with a solid understanding of the medium – so really anyone is welcome!

Class Supplies:

  • Watercolor paints – starting from scratch? On a budget? Try the Michael’s Watercolor Palette (for the record, this is how I taught myself years ago!!).
  • Pencil & eraser
  • Micron pens 01 (black or brown ) or Sharpie Fine Tip
  • Golden High Flow Acrylic Paint in Titanium White
  • Water cup
  • Palette for mixing colors
  • Watercolor brushes Round 18/0, 2 and 6 and if you have a 3/4” or 1” flat wash that would be great too
  • Heat tool or hair dryer
  • Metal Palette Knife
  • Painters Tape
  • Art tote or rigid surface to tape your watercolor paper down to
  • Watercolor paper coldpress 9x12
  • Metal Stylus
  • Paper towels or baby wipes
  • Salt
  • Saran Wrap
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Straw (like a drinking straw – NOT those tiny cocktail ones)
  • Sea Sponge
  • Pipette
  • OPTIONAL – Posca or acrylic paint markers of any kind. These are particularly fun on our vase with flowers exercise
