DIY Leather Midori Journals & Image Transfers

What: Step by Step Guide to Painting, Image Transfers and Sealing Leather Journals

When: Watch Live, the day of class or catch the full Replay

Saturday, March 23, 2024 10am-12pm PST

Midori or travelers journals come in a wide variety of styles, colors and designs. They are fabulous little journals that hold removeable paper journal inserts in them, using elastic to hold the little journals/book/inserts in place. Regardless of your chosen art medium, be it writing poetry, watercolor, scrapbooking, journaling or simply because you like having pretty supplies or places to keep your calendar and life organized, midori journals are PERFECT for you! I’m a huge fan of Yellow Paper House (YPH), because they quite literally have an insert for EVERYONE’s needs! Although I enjoy making them from scratch, I also really love the convenience of YPH!

In this online course, I’m going to show you how I make my own leather midori journals; with the help of some pretty special image transfers. As most of you know, I’m also a huge fan of Iron Orchid Designs (IOD), and I’m going to show you how I apply them to leather and how to seal them! Image transfers are incredibly subjective, and most of us have loads of them. The cool thing, is you only need at most 5.5” x 8.5” of transfer, so think about using those awesome small scraps you’ve been squirreling away. Should you choose to skip the transfer part, that’s totally ok, you can simply use and make the leather midori, it’s still just beautiful! I even used leather stain to stamp some of my favorite stamps on veg tan. You can catch that video here, if that’s more your cup of tea.
